[ Buffy takes a minute to take a deep breath before she launches into her message. ]
Hey, Jack, it's Buffy. I ... I don't know if you're even getting this where you are, or if it won't reach you 'til you're already back, but ... I didn't know who else to call.
Something ... [ Wow being open is really hard. Made slightly easier that she got the machine. ] Something happened. While we were out on the mission. Well, it's -- it's been happening. For a while now, actually. A-And I thought I'd see if maybe you could ... help me. [ Her voice shakes on that. Because, she's trying really hard not to be, but she's scared. It's scary. The fact that she had a total spaz attack and attacked her teammate, for one, and the fact that she's still running on majorly low sleep to avoid having the dreams for another. ]
Anyway. I'll stop true confessions-ing your voicemail, and just ... Call me when you get this, okay?

And, then there was ... something there with us. Something ... A girl. I think she was a girl ... And, it was like the dreams, but it was all around me. And there was, you know, the whole not-sleeping factor. She -- It was like ... death. I was Death. [ She huffs, digressing. ] I don't even know what I'm saying. Or how to describe it.
But, it felt like he was hurting me. So, I hit him. And then he was her ... and I tried to choke it, but then it was Spike again, and I -- I don't know what's wrong with me. [ A sudden choked noise racks her as on the other end of the line tears slip out of her eyes and she lets herself crumble finally. ] What if that's what I am? What if that's why I can do these things?

I'm not trying to dismiss what you saw, but perhaps it was what led to a loss of perspective.

It wasn't magic. It was me. That thing is in me, Jack. If it was just magic, or just the club, then what about the dreams? Why do I wake up every night screaming, dreaming about girls dying?

That wasn't my implication. Sir Ellison, after all, is not quite returned from her own mission, but she should be in a few week's time.

I don't know. I don't even know if they'd still want me around if they knew. ... Assuming Spike hasn't already told them. [ A beat. ] And, why shouldn't he? I went postal.

I think right now what we all want is to actually pull off this stupid mission. [ She sighs, scrubbing a hand over her face. But then she gets an idea. HEY, JACK, YOU'RE A DRAGON'S CLAW AND THEREFORE VERY CLOSE TO WYNN. She sits up suddenly. ] Hey ... Do you know of a guy named Desmond Descant? [ /subtlest topic change ever. ]
