They're calling it the trial of the year:  wealthy socialite Audrey Petersen has been found, apparently held in the clutches of a madman named Nicholas St. Andrew, who according to authorities, was the mastermind behind the troublesome Children of Chaos, a cult who has been making headlines worldwide for the past two years.

Several agents working with the London Police Department interrupted St. Andrew this February, where he was attempting to complete some sort of dark magical ritual that involved Petersen in some way.  St. Andrew was killed in the raid, but Petersen was recovered, and has since been held by the police awaiting trial, as debate has continued to rage over whether she was a willing accomplice, or the victim of a sadistic and crazed cultist, magically brainwashed by the leader of the Children of Chaos.

Many prominent figures have come forward to offer themselves as character witnesses for Petersen, including London's own mayor, a frequent guest at Petersen's dinner parties in the past.   Some have even gone so far as to criticize the police for holding Petersen in the period awaiting her trial, but police chief Jared O'Keefe has defended the decision adamantly.  Several licensed therapists have been working with Petersen to get a read on her mental state, given that the few statements made publicly by the defendant indicate that her lawyer, Hiram Carlson, will be pressing the case on the grounds that she was exploited and brainwashed by St. Andrew.

Petersen's own husband, renowed scholar Grant Petersen, has notably declined to comment on the situation.
