[Spike's been off hanging out with Nadia for a while, but that doesn't mean he's not keeping in touch with his friends. Especially since some of his friends are busy having TINY CHILDREN and he definitely needs to see them. So consider this the catch all talking to Spike post. And luckily he installed Skype so he's ready to video chat!

Too bad he forgot vampires don't show up on camera.

Hello? [ she taps the screen like maybe it's me... ] Spike? I swear it said you were-- yeah, your little icon is right there...

[ wtf????? ]

What? I'm right here, Vi, what-- oh.

[He rolls his eyes and just... turns off video.] Vampire thing. Bloody forgot. Video chats work a lot better when both parties can be picked up by video.

I spaced tagging this. I'm the worst.

[Myri is too distracted by adjusting her hold on Shayla to notice that there's no Spike on the screen. But since Vi's baby was born first maybe he already knows how this is going to go.]

Ready to meet your Uncle Spike? [She coos to her child. Glancing up, she looks confused.]

Hello?

[bigbad]

[Yeah, he's figured it out now, so he sighs and holds up a drawing.] This is the best I've got, love. Vampires don't show up on camera.

[He leans forward, moving the picture with him as he looks at the image on his screen.] Oh, Myri, love, she's gorgeous.

[witchwoman]

[She frowns, not liking that she can't see him. Myri misses Spike desperately, but at least he's able to see little Shayla.]

She's perfect. [Myri agrees, lifting her so that Spike can see a little better.] And she loves being held so you can get plenty of that once you come home.

How are things going out there?

[bigbad]

I can't wait to meet her properly. [He smiles, reaching out to touch the side of the screen.] It's... well, it's been rough. But we're both holding up.

[graveflowers]

Well, you can still look at my beautiful, sleep-deprived face so it's still a win. [ she glances down. ] It's going to be a second for Lu, though. So tell me... what's up? How's being Kevin Costner in the Bodyguard?

[bigbad]

Still not living the cliche. Not sure why everyone's so convinced that's my goal.

[It's because subtlety has never once been Spike's thing. That's it. That's the reason.]

[witchwoman]

Rough? [She looks concerned.] What's wrong?

[bigbad]

Nothing new. She just has nightmares. [Spike grimaces, though it doesn't show on camera, of course.] Suppose that's what happens when you royally piss off a Nightmare god. But we're making it through.

Well, they sort of don't actually get together, so I dunno why you think that's what I was implying, Spike. [ this is why everyone thinks it's your end goal, yo. ] Have you even seen the movie?

[bigbad]

...I read the summary on Netflix. [He sounds a little embarrassed.] Since you lot kept going on about it. Might've watched it if I weren't in the middle of Kimmy Schmidt.

That show is the shit! Anyway they like sleep together once but he's like no bitch, I'm supposed to be protecting you, get off my dick and then once she's safe he flounces to some other job. I dunno why people think it's like super romantic. Probably 'cause Kevin Costner is just a baller.

[bigbad]

....I'm glad I stuck with Kimmy. That's not romantic at all. [That definitely isn't how he wants his bodyguarding stint with Nadia to go.]

[witchwoman]

[Myri looks incredibly concerned but that's nothing new.]

Do you know how much longer you'll be out there with her?

[graveflowers]

[ she squints. ] So you do want to romance Nadia. Are you starting to see where we're getting this idea, Spike?

[bigbad]

Bloody hell, woman! Don't have to want to romance her to not want to shag her and leave her.

[He's not saying he doesn't want to romance her, but the point stands. There are multiple options!]

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head.] Not sure. Til Wynn calls me back, I suppose.

[graveflowers]

Well, you are going to leave her, this isn't a permanent gig for you.

[witchwoman]

I can't wait to have you back. I know it's important work that you're doing. You know I want nothing more than to see Nadia kept safe, but... I miss you.

[bigbad]

I know that. But it's not like we won't keep in touch.

[bigbad]

I miss you too, pet. And I want to meet the little nibblet in person, too. [He exhales slightly, reaching forward to touch the screen.]

Wish we had a better solution than this. Or that I could be in two places at once.

[witchwoman]

Sadly, I don't think we've quite got the hang of that sort of magic yet.

[bigbad]

For the best. If there's anything the telly's taught me, it's that making doubles of yourself always ends in those doubles fighting you.

[witchwoman]

Yes and we already did that once didn't we? [She says with a laugh, remembering their first encounter with a doppelgänger that took Spike's face.]

[graveflowers]

[ i mean, if they survive...

she glances down for a moment before shifting. ] I guess. [ and then she hefts up the half asleep little baby so spike can finally see her, all sleepy pursed lips and half open bright, bright green kaleidoscope eyes. ] Say hi to Uncle Spike, Lu.

[ of course she makes the alarmingly teeny baby wave. ]

Oh, she's gorgeous, love. [Spike smiles softly, leaning forward to touch the screen.]

[bigbad]

[Spike grimaces.] Suppose we did at that. Didn't go too well for us that time either.

[graveflowers]

[ vi beams, looking happy by spikes words. she'd be even more so to see his expression, but his voice will do for now. ]

Thanks. I'm kind of in love with her. She's pretty special, just like her Daddy.

[witchwoman]

No, not really. Things rarely do. But they work out...mostly.

[Not always. Sometimes her husband ends up with a one way ticket to crazy land.]

[bigbad]

Her mum's pretty special too. [He gets what she's saying, but... just making sure she knows that.]

[bigbad]

Hard to think there's too much bad out there when you've got that little darling.

[graveflowers]

I'm alright, [ she says with a self-deprecating laugh, shrugging. the way her expression softens makes it clear she actually needed to hear that but she doesn't dwell on it. ]

Uncle Spike is going to teach her to fight dirty, though, isn't he? I'm already teaching her to aim for the nuts, so you'll have to watch out, but you are so fond of your fists I couldn't think of a better teacher.

[ buffy also, but she wants to make sure that spike still feels connected to them while he's gone. and that he still has stuff to come back to. she knows they're not overly close, but she cares for him. ]

[witchwoman]

[She can't help but smile at that.]

She does make the world seem brighter again. She's even more lovely in person.

Or the eyes. Pretty easy to break someone's nose too if you know what you're doing.

[He'll be such a great influence on this child.]
