[She doesn't actually know if he uses the phone, poor old fashioned dear, but she is exhausted and dehydrated because she is somehow still crying and, to be perfectly honest, she is terrified of falling asleep. She has nothing left to stop her from giving it a shot.

She needs it, and she was so focused on what everyone else needed -- what Jade needed and Rafael and Des and Myri -- that she pushed it aside because she felt bad that she can't figure out how to get this comfort from anyone here and because death is what she is good at so she let herself take over to save anyone else having to do it.

But now it's settled on her shoulders, the reminder that she has no idea what she is doing in this case and she needs help. His help, specifically, because as much as he flusters her and makes her stomach riot with butterflies, he calms her down and centers her, balancing her when she feels off-kilter and confused. And she would really love to be calm, for at least a moment.

So she curls up in on of the chairs in the waiting room, tugging her feet up on to the seat. She dials and listens to it ring and really hopes he is around to talk to her. She twists her wrist to glance at her watch, it is really early or middle of the night there -- dyslexia is not exclusive to letters, sadly, and she doesn't have a digital watch -- but she... doesn't actually care.]

[ the phone only rings twice before he picks up, which answers some of her questions. ]

Yes?

[One word and she is crying again, this is not fair. How does she even have tears left in her body? She sniffles softly and swallows, pushing it back so she can talk. She's been doing it all day, its almost easy now.]

Um, quick preface to this conversation, I am sorry it is so late and slash or early. Also that apology applies if I interrupted you or if you're busy or don't want to talk to me or just something. [She sighs, heavy and defeated.]

Hi Luthir.

[luthir]

[ there's the slightest pause ] Elves don't sleep the way humans do. Your timing was flawless.

What's happened?

[graveflowers]

I'll add flawless timing to my CV. Do elves not watch TV, either? [She laughs, mirthless.] Burt is gonna be so disappointed. Do you really not know or are you just asking outside the obvious catastrophe?

[luthir]

Apparently, I missed something. But you're right: I don't watch very much.

[graveflowers]

I'm glad I didn't put any hope in an international check up from you then. That concert I went to? [She laughs again, a little hysterical. It never occured to her that she would have to summarize the events of the past 24 hours.] The bad guys won, killed the damsel in distress. Funny story, she is also a half goddess. Well, she was. Turns out I'm not all that special, after all.

[luthir]

[ his tone shifts abruptly, incredibly serious as he asks: ] Someone died?

Are you alright?

[graveflowers]

I'm fine. Jade's dead, which is actually why I called.

[luthir]

What did you need? [ his tone is instantly obliging, no question over why she'd call him of all people to help with something happening half way around the world ]

[graveflowers]

[So sweet.] Actually it's a couple things. One of which is totally off topic, so bear with me. Do you know much about the gods in this place? Like... if I described one could you tell me his name?

[luthir]

Depending on the pantheon. But most likely.

[graveflowers]

I don't even know if he is a god, I'm just guessing. [She pauses, fiddling with her necklace.] He's a guy, dark skin, like dark chocolate dark, long white hair that covers his face, and this fierce purple armor with spikes. Basically makes that Dryad queen seem like a sapling that's how scary he is.

[luthir]

A dark elf god, then. There aren't many to choose from. Why do you ask?

[graveflowers]

He wants to date me. ...okay, slightly less simple but same basics. I don't like that he knows everything about me and I know nothing. And I don't know what to do but I would just really like to know something, for once.

[luthir]

There are only four drow male gods... although it isn't impossible for a deity who identifies as female to appear otherwise.

But I don't understand: how were you contacted by such a power?

[graveflowers]

[She exhales loudly and if wasn't apparent how exhausted she is before, it is now.] He... gifts me with nice little dream messages. They're great, nice little montage of all my failures in color and surround sound with the added gut punch of memories I don't actually remember and then -- then I get to wake up.

[luthir]

It doesn't seem surprising that the gods would know of your old life: they see all, across worlds. But what would have bent one's interest onto you? Especially one of ... them. [ can you hear the disdain, vi. old fashioned racism at its best. ]

[graveflowers]

You're the one that keeps telling me I'm special. How the hell should I know why he wants me in particular when he could have anybody else in the world, like someone worth all the effort. If you don't want to talk about it because it upsets your delicate sensibilities, talking about them, then we can move on. But it would be super great if you could push aside a million years ingrained prejudice for a second because I am freaking out and you're the only person I can talk to. And the funniest part, is that he said he could give me my deepest desire, and I thought of you. But you guys hate each other so I guess it's good I already established that as a pipe dream.

[ wow there is some serious stunned silence on the other end of the phone here, congrats violet. cannot find words. ]

Yeah. Told you it was funny.

[luthir]

A strange use of the word. [ he sounds a bit in shock still, obviously not certain where to start with all that. ] ... Amin hiraetha. I didn't mean to imply I wouldn't help you. I'm just concerned. No matter which of the four it might be, there can be nothing good in their intentions. The only good drow deity is the Lady Eilistraee. The others are as evil as they come, through and through.

[ wait, that's not comforting. ] But their power is limited in this world. They can send you visions, but he cannot touch you, Helillóte.

[graveflowers]

[Can't touch her unless she goes looking for him and puts herself in danger probably.] Okay.

[She rubs her head, trying to dull the near constant throbbing of her headache.] The other thing is that I said I would take care of Jade's funeral, but I don't know anything about elven, elvish?, funerals and she was... part, I don't remember. But I figured there should be equal representaion.

Of course. [ this, he can handle... ] They're something of an event: elves live long enough lives that passings are few and far between, by human standards. Some aspect of the service could be undertaken by a priest of Corellon - he rules over funeral rites. Although you said she was descended from a god herself?

[graveflowers]

[She scribbles that down with the pen she found under the Dr Seuss books on the table, but she doesn't have any paper so... she just uses her leg. Whatever, it's not like anyone will ever accuse her of being classy.]Yeah, the moon goddess whose name I can't remember even though that's super disrespectful.

[ with calm confidence: ] Sehanine. One of the most powerful of all the Tel'Seldarine - of all gods in general, really. The wife of Corellon. [ a beat ] It... would be very appropriate to gear the service towards her, in more ways than one. Among other things, Sehanine is the elven goddess of death, and governs the passing of souls from the world.
