[Impossible to forget that it was televised after the disaster that followed.]

I heard about it. [Read: It's all anyone in the castle is talking about.]

I kinda wanna ask how you are but that seems like a stupid question with everything I've been hearing. [A pause.] But how are you anyway?

When the speakers blew my eardrums were destroyed. But that's been fixed, so at least there's that.

[As for the rest...yeah.]

Then Archer came home with a bunch of prostitutes, so I had to kick them out, and then I proceeded to make him an epic fireworks bomb. [A beat.] Wow, that really does sound even crazier out loud...

I imagine this conversation would have been hard if they hadn't.

[She makes the most flippant seeming remarks over the most serious of things...]

Hookers and firework bombs? [What the...] Is that like a drink or do you seriously mean a bomb. Of fireworks. In your hotel?!

One of the many reasons I didn't call earlier. Even after I saw a healer, I was stuck in the police station answering questions.

[A beat. Suddenly she really hopes these lines are secure, oops.]

Well, generally the only alcohol I get around here is from him too, but no. I meant exactly what I said. Hold on.

[Aaaand, she's sending Rose a picture of it. Pics or it didn't happen, right?]

What, like an interrogation? [If she sounds pissed about that it's because she is.] Why the hell were they interrogating you?

Well that's another reason why you need to get your ass back to - what the hell?! [Picture received.] I... Why?

They're trying to put Rafael away for murdering Jade. [Because yeah, she's died since the concert.] And because of my cover, I'm in with the musicians and Burt. They interrogated everyone on that balcony, and probably other witnesses too.

[Sadly, Elena was a little bit more than just a witness, but they should also believe she's just a groupie. Hopefully they bought it.]

Back up plan. For seeing what they have of Rafael. Hopefully it doesn't need to get used.

[But it's still pretty clear that she's...almost proud of it.]

[Unfortunately? Yeah Rose has no idea what Elena is talking about.]

Yeah, when I say I've heard about it I just mean I heard somebody got killed. You're pretty much the only person I know that was there and I have no clue what actually went down.

Alright, so, Finnick, who was one of the headliners in that concert, he's been undercover at the label he works for, because one of the brothers who could potentially be in charge there is super shady and hates Shadowkind.

[aka, them. basically.]

The brothers hate each other, and we'd rather have one gain control of the company than the other, because money makes a lot of things possible, but there's also some other nefarious people at work around here. We're trying to get as much info as well can, and try to find this special object before they do.

[aka, the Talisman.]

Some other really nasty stuff has come up too, like Shadowkind experimentation, and it's been pretty crazy in general. Rafael's been helping us out too, though he's not officially with us. He helped us recruit Jade, who supposedly knew about the object we've been looking for.

[A beat.]

Someone took advantage of her being there, namely evil producer brother. They held her hostage, and Rafael shot her trying to get to the guy with the gun to her head. Police are trying to pin the whole thing on him, so to speak.

[Another pause.]

Please tell me that made any sense.

So... Mission went sideways and this Raf guy can't aim for shit? [A beat.] Unless he was aiming for her?

[Rose Hathaway. Reducing a really complex scenario into a sentence and getting it wrong.]

The hitman saw the attack coming at the last minute and used her as a shield.

[Her voice gets a little tight, but she doesn't take offense. She can see where she'd think that.]

Oh - Damn. [A beat.] See this is why I hate guns.

[And then there's a long silence followed by an;] Ohhhh.

[There's no good way to respond to that revelation.] So... are you guys like, helping him get off the hook now?

He helped us when he didn't have to. Now it's our job to help him.

[There's a brief pause before she tries to sound perkier, because all this doom and gloom is killing her and grief is everywhere in this hotel room and she wants a break, even if it's impossible when she's feeling it too.]

So what about you? How's life back in London?

Oh good. And hey if it comes to staging a break out I'm pretty good at that.

[No but really. Twice.

Ungh. You can practically hear her groan at that question.]

Well Lila and Faye are still battling out for the title of who I'd most like to see fall into a hole they can't get out of. Some girl claiming to be my best friend has shown up and the voices in my head are actually real. [So. Much. Sarcasm.] Seriously. If you need me in Chicago I'll take the first plane out of here.

[Wisdom 5. So there's a long silence because she followed...none of that.]

[Elena just listens, because she's not sure what the hell to do with most of this information.

So basically you have telepathy with...only one person. Which is awkward because she remembers being your best friend and you don't remember her. And you can read her thoughts. Which makes that even more awkward.

[Being blunt is probably the only thing to do at this point.]

[There's a long pause as Rose processes all that, making sure it makes sense.]

Oh and sometimes I can see through her eyes, like I'm possessing her but just... without the actual control.

A sigh comes over the line, silence hanging for a moment as Rose tries to push it all back down and attempt to change the subject.]

You should ask Gar about it when we get back. If anyone is going to know about it or be able to look it up, it's her. Or you could try to do a search yourself, too.

[And then she lets it go, because she can tell it's only upsetting her further.]

Well, Myri thinks I'm ready, so she's going to put in a good word for me. Then I just need to figure out which sect would be best for me and be accepted by its head.
