This girl, Lissa. You just missed her squiring ceremony but she's like... I don't know. My best friend or something which I know is true except that I don't actually remember her. At all. Because the veil did a massive number on my head.

[And now for the other thing... which it turns out Rose is less willing to talk about.]

Well... It kinda began when I started hearing voices.

[And she's going to come back to the thing about you being knighted cause it just feels weird discussing that after she went and dropped all that cray on you.]

[Elena just listens, because she's not sure what the hell to do with most of this information.

And her bestie is many things, but a liar is not one of them. So Elena just straight up believes her.]

So basically you have telepathy with...only one person. Which is awkward because she remembers being your best friend and you don't remember her. And you can read her thoughts. Which makes that even more awkward.

[Being blunt is probably the only thing to do at this point.]

[There's a long pause as Rose processes all that, making sure it makes sense.]

Oh and sometimes I can see through her eyes, like I'm possessing her but just... without the actual control.

So now I either need her to talk to somebody about it or just think about it so I know what the hell is happening to me but if she's going to keep hiding stuff from me then I don't really see us being friends let alone best friends. Moroi or not.

She should really be telling you herself if she wants to be your friend. Forcing you to...rummage around in her head for information should be the exact opposite of what she wants.

And about the only thing that stops it is alcohol but I don't really want to become an alcoholic just to shut her out and then - it's like she gets pissed off that I can read her thoughts but last I checked, I didn't ask for this!

I can understand getting upset, but at least she knew about it before she showed up here, you know?

[Elena is just all frowny face on the other side of the line.]

It sounds like you two need to just...start over or something, and given the circumstances that's basically impossible.

Yeah sorry, she really doesn't get to be upset. She's not the one whose had her whole life turned upside down.

[Which was perhaps a little harsh even for Rose but she didn't like not having control over what was happening to her and had never really been good at editing her words.]

[Getting more angry about it the more she talked about it, not all that surprising seeing as she'd been bottling it up.

A sigh comes over the line, silence hanging for a moment as Rose tries to push it all back down and attempt to change the subject.]

You should ask Gar about it when we get back. If anyone is going to know about it or be able to look it up, it's her. Or you could try to do a search yourself, too.

[And then she lets it go, because she can tell it's only upsetting her further.]

Well, Myri thinks I'm ready, so she's going to put in a good word for me. Then I just need to figure out which sect would be best for me and be accepted by its head.

This is why I like things with Dimitri. Neither of us remember so I don't have to feel like he's hiding stuff from me cause there's nothing to hide.

[Except for everything she was currently hiding from him in relation to the bond but... semantics.]

Yeah, there's definitely a bit of that. But you haven't seen the look on his face when he talks about it. And he drinks. A lot.

[Which means bad news. A lot of it.
