[ near the beginning of september, everyone in the castle proper (and dimitri in siberia) gets a crisp invitation. even rose, whose life support lila would unplug to charge her phone, gets an invitation -- more for the sake of her boyfriend than because lila cares. maybe no invitation for christos though. he murdered a dog, ya'll. (no, even christos bc sylar said so.)


yeah. that's fucking right: a wedding reception. a small pre-stamped postcard requests an rsvp and assures the invitee that lodging will be offered at the hotel should they so choose. there is no choice in food as everyone will be getting surf and turf (dwi) but there is a vegetarian option. enjoy your like two and a half weeks notice wtf is etiquette.

feel free to use this post to rsvp (though it's not necessary) or chat with lila/other people or generally wtf at a slightly surprise wedding, whatever. ]

[ once lila has mailed the invitations out, she drives out to the castle to find faye. which is easy because it's asscrack of dawn and like any normal person, faye is in her room. sleeping. so lila let's herself In a flops down on the bed with her bestie. ]

Wake up, slut, I brought bagels.

[The sound that comes from Faye is not words. It's more of a grumble as she curls stubbornly, as if she could somehow avoid waking up by just forming herself into a tighter ball.

She cracks open an eye and grumbles again.]

What time is it?

Eight. [ she sips her coffee languidly, willing to be patient with the not-exactly-early bird. ]

[She makes a sound of protest, but she's fucking awake now so she shifts herself to half sit, pushing a hand through her wild mess of dark hair. Then, she holds out that same hand like bagel me bitch.]

[ she passes over a bag with a still warm bagel, spread thick with whatever topping faye likes best and if she has no opinion then it's cream cheese. ] I got you a coffee, too.

You could always just let me sleep in. [She points out before taking a bite out of her bagel. She's joking, though. Sort of.]

[BEFORE THE INVITATIONS GO OUT first sylar has to find dean. and talk to him. as one does. it's easy, right, there's only so many places he could be. i looked at his last open post and decided he found him playing pool tho.]

[ dean looks up from the cracking sound of the cue striking a ball ] ... Hey. What's up?

[so bluntly lmao] I'm getting married. That's what's up.

[ one eyebrow rockets upwards ] You're marryin' Lila? [ a beat ] Are you sure that's good for your health?

[watchmaker]

[dryly] Probably not, but it's happening. And I kind of need a best man, so I'm asking you.

Wait. Seriously?

[Oh hey a wedding! Of someone she likes and would probably go to. So consider this her RSVP via text, and it basically comes out like this:]

I'm coming. How dressy is it?

[ ... Probably never actually been to a wedding before. She just wants to know if she's going to need Thea's help or if she might be able to manage it on her own.]

It's in a ballroom. Squiring party dressy.

[ so yeah, thea's help may be necessary. ]

[Yep, texting Thea after this.]

What about gifts?

[that is not helpful Lila. But she will figure it out, one way or another.]

Okay. Congratulations.

[bittersweeter]

[ lmao she takes pity on the poor lamb after a second, ok. ]

[Okay. Actually RSPV-ing to the wedding has happened. And she talked to Thea about making sure she's dressed properly. Now all that matters is (what she considers) the actual hard part because she doesn't want it to be weird or awkward and she's never actually asked someone on a date before.

It's possible that asking him to a wedding is a bit much, but Abigail and Stiles are going together so there's no reason why she can't ask Henry too. It's just a party. No big deal at all.

She tracks him down in the library, where she pulls out the chair and slides into the seat next to him.]

Hey.

[ Cora suddenly showing up in the library and taking a seat next to him is a surprise. A nice one. He closes the book he's been looking at, though, and smiles at her. ]

Hey. What's up?

[impetere]

[She smiles back reflexively when he smiles at her, before turning to face him more.]

My friend is getting married. She's having a private ceremony, but there's going to be a big party after so ... I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go with me?

[And she'll wait. And if he doesn't say anything she'll start up again, but waiting first.]

[ A wedding. And she wants to go with him. He's flattered and thrilled although he refrains from letting out an overly enthusiastic, 'Heck, yeah.' His smile widens, though. ]

Oh - yeah, I'd love to go! When is it?

[impetere]

[Cora will have gladly accepted 'heck yeah', just for the record. But there's a bit of relief in her shoulders when he says yes and nods.]

A couple weeks from now. September 18.

[ Couple weeks. That gives him plenty of time to come up with a little gift and a nice suit. ]
