DRAKENET SEARCH ENGINE
[ One of the handy features of your specially issued Drakenet phone is access to the Knight's digital archives anywhere, anytime, on the go. As long as your character knows how to operate a search engine* they may submit informational queries about people, places, species, deities, organizations, businesses, locations, objects, creatures, etc. etc. and receive relevant information here.
To use the search engine, simply leave a comment below using the following code, replacing the "search terms" with whatever you want to research, and replacing the # with your Research (INT) skill check roll:
[ This can be used at any time, either in addition to or as a replacement for actual threading out research on any topic. ]

There is, naturally, much speculation over what exactly a "soul" is in the first place, but the process of resurrection seems to offer evidence that it is, in fact, more than just a religious term for consciousness.
Any information about vampiric souls is grounded in speculation only, but those who study them (as well as vampire hunters) seem to agree that when rendered undead, beings lose their 'soul', though whether it is destroyed, suppressed, or something else is unknown. If it is actually destroyed, then it would seem vampires would cease to exist once finally 'killed', rather than going to an afterlife.
Vampires do not seem to lose their sense of individual self upon being turned, and it appears to be nothing more than the unnatural thirst for blood and society's hatred for them that steer them towards 'evil' acts. They are still capable of guilt, remorse, and other such emotions, though the repeated act of killing does dull these over their considerable life spans.
A vampire may also be subject to the will of its sire, which may have some impact on the fledgling vampire's morality. New vampires have a difficult time directly disobeying their sires.
