[ some time later in the evening after wynn's initial sending people out via word of mouth, a message will go out over drakenet.  wynn looks particularly grim still, the lines in his face betraying just how much fucking shit has gone wrong tonight. ]

My Knights.  Many of you have been made aware by now that the prisoner in our dungeons, the doppelganger called Kyp who impersonated two members of our Knighthood, infiltrated our sanctum, and helped aid our enemy in delivering those Knights to torture at the hands of Dimitris Sarandis, has escaped.  All evidence points to his being aided and abetted by one of our own.

Sir Elena Gilbert, who possesses similar abilities to his, was seen leaving with him not long ago.  She left behind a message apologizing for her part in this, but not denying it.  My own conversations with Sir Gilbert before her departure lead me to believe their intention is to travel to Andres Isle.  She seems to possess a great amount of sympathy for him, and feared that he would be executed before being granted a chance to redeem himself for what he had done to us.  

Whatever her intentions, this doppelganger has proven himself too dangerous to be allowed to walk free at this time.  We will make every effort to prevent them from traveling outside of England for now - but your standing orders to remain off from Andres soil have not changed. 

Following on the heels of this come further dark tidings.  Sir Luthir Reedhym, one of our eldest, most respected members of the Hide, has fallen in service to his family and Knighthood.  Those connected to the dark forces that led to his downfall will be brought to justice, you may be assured.  When this matter rests, we will host a fitting ceremony to celebrate the life and achievements of our dearly departed friend.

One final matter:  all of this is connected to another event that transpired this night.  A mass suicide of Shadowkind in New York City will certainly be global news tomorrow.  I would like to thank those Knights who stood steadfast even in their grief to do what must be done and save what lives they could.

These are perilous times, but we will face them together.  Stand strong with one another, and do not despair of heart should we fail to make progress tonight.  

We will win the war, whatever battles we may lose.

I know you probably have people with more experience than me or who would do a better job, but... the funeral. I'd like to take care of it. If that's okay. I need to be doing something.

I can't imagine anyone who'd do a better job of it.

Maybe funeral planner should be a subsect of the Dragon's Light. [ violet, don't be morbid. ]

I tend to hope it's not something we'll have that much call for in the near future.

[graveflowers]

So that's a no on spontaneous promotion and my own office. [ there's a long pause as she looks down at her hands. ] Sir, I'm sorry. About Luthir. I knew someone was going to get hurt, I never should have asked him to come with me.

[wynn]

Knowing Sir Luthir, I'm not certain that would have ever stopped him, Violet.

[graveflowers]

I could have tied him to a chair. Now he's never going to be able to build me a treehouse or promote Rose or hold his own kid. This was not the 'til death do us part I was imagining. I thought I'd at least get a week. [ somehow on that same vein and tacked on the end of the sentence, she adds. ] I'm not sure I'm really the mentor Hayley deserves, sir.

[wynn]

We'll have to disagree on that. However, if you'd prefer I transfer her mentorship to another during this time...

I would. If that's... okay.

[wynn]

I'll work on finding someone appropriate.

[graveflowers]

Thanks. [ another deep breath. ] And sir, I know I was supposed to resume mission ready status after all this, but... I can't. Can we talk when I get back?

Of course. Whatever you feel is best.

Thanks. [ a beat. ] See you... later, I guess. [ and then she hangs up because ugh emotions. it's time for a nap. ]
