You know you can die from sleep deprivation? No joke.

It doesn't directly kill you, but it causes symptoms that can. It fucks up your hormones, raises your blood pressure, changes the way you metabolize food, fucks up your immune system ... all sorts of stuff. [knowledge: earth and life sciences 16]

All true, but when you only sleep once a week you get used to all that stuff. I never need to diet, but the constant pain thing I can do without. Sleep deprivation is a pretty stellar form of torture though.

You know we have all sorts of drugs and stuff in the med center right? Like, it's not just clerics sitting around having tea parties. I can hook you up with something for pain. Or to help you sleep.

Gar is trying to hook me up with a sleeping pill that will actually work, but I have a guy in the city who supplies me with a profound amount of drugs. If anyone looked in my closet they'd think I was a one woman prescription drug ring. I try to keep the pain thing quiet.

[ it's actually the one thing she's managed to keep quiet well. faye and sylar knew because it came up naturally, faye told emma, and lila told alex, but that's basically it outside of eric. ]

[ well astrid would be one of like three people to see lila not looking hella put together. BUT THEY MATCH KIND OF. because lila's wearing an nyu hoodie. represent. she opens the door with a yawn. ]

Why are you wearing sunglasses? [ but she pushes the door back to let astrid in. the bed is covered in books and notes and she's got a dry erase board stuck to the wall with a battleship grid and little green dots that signify her ships. there's a pile of pillows on the floor where she was apparently sitting and listening to pandora on her tablet while she does research. IDK WAS SHE SKYPING SYLAR TOO??? while doing research. god, probably. that's a fancy ass date for them. ]

[it is, ok. sylar and lila are tres romantique.] Because I already took out my contacts for the night and I didn't feel like putting them back in? [she walks into her room and takes a look around ... s-so exciting.] Where's your stash?

What do your contacts have to do with sunglasses? [ tiny bulldog. she opens one of the closet doors, kicks a heap of shoes out of the way and pulls out a large shoe box, dropping it on the bed. ]

[because she doesn't care that much around lila and it's clear she's going to keep being annoying about it, she lowers her sunglasses for a moment so lila can see her eyes. which are actually ... bright green with slit pupils. spoilers: she wears colored contacts to make her eyes look normal.] Because.

[once lila plops down the shoebox, astrid sits down next to it, opens it, and starts piling bottles together in different little groups.]

Pretty. [ and she means it, absolutely unfazed by this new development.

she has every painkiller known to man, including about ten that are banned in the us. most of them are nsaids, but she has a fair number of opioids. it's abundantly clear the pain she mentioned isn't just a mild headache. there's over forty different bottles, all with her name stamped across them. she also has narcan, which is used in case of opioid overdoses. she doesn't fuck around, tbh. ]
